Fun Recipes to Experiment - HeartBeet Hummus

Welcome back to our fun recipes to experiment, where we explore the versatility of Mr.Heartbeet's Mix in various culinary endeavors. Today, we embarked on a unique experiment: incorporating this mix into hummus. Follow along as we share our journey and the surprising results.

For those who want a quick and simple snack, you can mix HeartBeets with pre-made hummus sold at grocery stores. You can however make you own hummus if you want with these simple ingredients listed below:

  • A can of Chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • Tahini (2 tb)
  • Olive Oil (1 tb)
  • Garlic (3 cloves)
  • Ice Cube (1)
  • Cumin (1 tsp)
  • Healthy HeartBeets (2 tb)
  • Lemon Juice (1 tsp)
  • Parsley (garnish)

Instructions:

Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor, then blend until smooth. Add an ice cube at the end to thicken the hummus, and blend again. Finish by garnishing with parsley and olive oil.

My experience using store-bought:

It was pretty quick to whip up the ingredients when using store-bought hummus. I put it back in the fridge to chill overnight so the chia and hemp seeds could absorb the hummus. I did, however, add a dash of water to keep the hummus from getting clumpy, along with a bit of olive oil. The consistency stayed the same, and it had a nice earthy taste! It was also an easy snack to carry in a small container, with no trouble at all.

My experience using homemade (picture above):

Blending the homemade hummus was also quick and easy. Since everything was already in the blender, it didn’t take much work to mix in the Healthy HeartBeets. I added it at the end, after the cumin powder but before the final blend with ice. It worked just fine! This experience was similar to the store-bought one, where I had to add a dash of water to moisten the hummus slightly, giving it a smoother, less chunky texture. It turned out pretty well, but honestly, I still prefer the store-bought version. It’s less work to clean up and a total time saver.
